THE 8 TABS

Start Here: numbered first steps, color key and notes.

Setup: farm name, the month your farm year starts, theme and sample switches, egg price per dozen, the enterprise that gets egg sales, weight unit, and every dropdown list (up to 10 enterprises, 25 income and 25 expense categories you name, payment methods, species).

Ledger: one row per income or expense (2,000 rows) with date, type, enterprise, category, description, vendor or buyer, amount, payment method, receipt link and notes. Farm year and month fill in, and a check flags a category that does not match the type.

Egg Log: one row per day (1,100 rows) with hens laying count, eggs collected, cracked or kept, dozens sold and price per dozen. The sale amount fills in.

Animals: one row per animal or group (300 rows) with tag or name, species, breed, sex, hatch or birth date, source, purchase cost, status (Active, Sold, Died, Processed, Gifted), date out and sale amount. Age fills in.

Animal Records: dated events (1,500 rows): Breeding, Birth or hatch, Weight, Vet visit, Treatment note, Hoof or shearing, Moved or Other, with details, weight, cost and notes.

Dashboard: income, expenses and net for a farm year by month (with one chart) and by enterprise, top expense categories, eggs this month and this year, average per hen per week, cost per dozen with its inputs, and animals active, in and out.

Year Summary: totals by enterprise and by category, egg sales, animal sales and net for one farm year, set up to print on one Letter page.

IMPORTANT

Developed for Google Sheets. An Excel file is included for the latest Microsoft 365 (Office 365 Desktop App). Older Excel versions may not support all features.

Egg sales are entered on the Egg Log only, never on the Ledger, so nothing is counted twice. They are added to the income of the enterprise picked on Setup (Laying flock to start).

Costs on Animal Records and the purchase cost and sale amount on Animals are records only. If you want a cost or a sale in your totals, enter it on the Ledger too.

Totals, net and cost per dozen are worked out only from what you enter. Net means income minus expenses; it is not a tax figure.

Sample farm, animal, buyer and number data shown are fictional. No tax calculator, tax forms, feeding or health plans are included.

GOOD TO KNOW

Every typing cell is unlocked, including the cells that show the sample rows; all other formula cells are locked without a password. In Google Sheets, sort the whole table and click OK if a protection warning appears. Filtering works while protected.

Dark prints dark, so switch to Light before printing.
